August 25, 2021 - Safely welcoming you back

As summer nears the end, I hope you were able to take some much-deserved time off to relax and spend quality time with friends and family. Over the past 18 months, one thing that has been abundantly clear is that time with loved ones should not be taken for granted, and that regular breaks from work are necessary for productivity and a healthy wellbeing.

With such a diverse workforce, the municipality has had teams onsite continuously since the onset of the pandemic, while others have been working remotely. I understand that working through fluctuating public health restrictions has been challenging both professionally and personally, so I want to take this opportunity to recognize your commitment to delivering service excellence to our residents, the communities we serve, and your fellow colleagues. Thanks so much.

As of September 7, many of you will have returned to your regular worksites. We are on track to enter Phase 5 of Nova Scotia’s reopening plan on September 15; however, we will continue to adhere to public health protocols and address any changes as they’re announced. Help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by following public health guidelines, and getting fully vaccinated if eligible, to keep yourself and others safe.

Please reach out to your manager/supervisor if you have specific questions or concerns.

Our region’s ability to safely ease restrictions has not been by circumstance, coincidence or luck – it has been the collective effort of each of you and your continued vigilance against COVID-19. I look forward to the opportunity to see more of you in person in the coming weeks.

Kind regards, amitiés, wela’lioq,
